Darren Bowen Photography Portrait Studio
I am proud to announce that I have signed the lease on my first studio located within the central historic and business district of Waxhaw, NC, in a historic landmark building replacing the original Livery Stable. The building sat on the corner of South Main and Broome St which was sadly burned to the ground in 1932, the present-day W. H. Collins and Son “Mule Barn” as it’s fondly referred too, stands today as a reminder of the bygone days of Waxhaw.

Fighting Childhood Cancer with Claire’s Army and Christmas Magic
Last year was the first year working with the idea of using my unique photography to support the fight against Childhood Cancer, specifically Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). I had never attempted anything like fundraising, nevermind the tour of events to promote the work. I will not deny it was hugely challenging to autonomously secure sponsorships, television appearances, press opportunities, and venues across the Charlotte area to host the events.
Christmas Memories of London, West One
Since ’69, it became a tradition to explore our way from Charing Cross in the rush hour. On to Piccadilly Circus, we danced a pantomime while struggling against tourist backlash. Crisscrossing into Regents Street’s sonances with the increasing appearance of shimmering lights above the crowd. The light intensity compelled, we circle Oxford Circus; within reach, the final stretch aiming to the right towards Selfridges Oxford Street, London W1.
The Magic of a Christmas Masterpiece

Meeting the Toys of Childhood Memories
Let me take you back to the small years of my life; We were on the London Underground (Chalk Farm on the Northern Line), and Mum was taking us home after spending the day with my grandparents. I was holding my smokey the bear close; life had been a rollercoaster, and I missed my Dad badly. We had just gone down the escalator to platform 2, and I suddenly screamed to Mum, “Where is Smokey?” We rushed back to the lift; he was long gone!

If I Could Teach The World to Sing
It was on a brisk November morning in 2015, when Charlotte Portrait Photographer Darren Bowen was standing outside Coca-Cola Bottling Consolidated in Charlotte NC. I was speaking on my mobile phone to my girlfriend and as always in observation of the environment and having only recently arrived here I was enjoying the exterior, water fountains, a couple of flags up high and to the left of me the classic Coca-Cola logo that the world has come to know and sing about.
